[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Request for Administrator nomination
[edit]I would like to request permission to nominate you to become an administrator. Please state your opinion! elias_fdafs • (Let's Talk! What Have I Done?) 16:15, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Elías Fortaleza de la Fuerza Sánchez: I am deeply honored by the suggestion, seriously. But I must decline. Partly because I don't have the time or, to be honest, the temperamant. Also, cue to the tightly focused nature of my work I haven't been able to keep up with the current details of conventions and policies. But, again, many thanks. AWB
[edit]Hi David, wondered if you would please test something for me. Here are three articles Marocco (surname), COVID-19 lab leak theory, Melissa, Texas that each has a misspelling of 'goverment' (Assuming no one has very recently fixed!). Does AWB (using general fixes) pick these up for you? My usage of AWB only picks up one. Interestingly it was none until I removed the date comment on the regex. - May be an issue.... - @Neils51 don't know when i can.respond due to medical emergency. But genfixes shouldn't change spelling. Are you loading typos? Or confusing it with normal find/replace? David Brooks (talk) 02:25, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- Yes, my mistake, I meant using the default typo list for Find and Replace. Neils51 (talk) 12:45, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- If you meant you have some "Find and Replace / Normal settings" entries, can you send me a screenshot of the window (you can email me). But I think you mean you have the "Regex typo fixing" button checked, yes? I'm looking at the rule to fix various related mis-spellings and... I need a drink. David Brooks (talk) 22:54, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Neils51: Sorry I didn't ping you on the previous. If you are using Find and Replace, did you check the second checkbox above the list of replacements? Melissa, Texas is in a footnote and COVID-19 lab leak theory is in a section heading. Similarly, if you are using typo fixing it has some exceptions outlined at Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/Typos#AutoWikiBrowser (AWB), first paragraph. It may be that also covers the two cases. David Brooks (talk) 01:03, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks, both checkboxes are unticked. I can perhaps understand the 'Melissa, Texas' one as the typo is within a reference within an infobox, however the section heading I don't see covered in the exclusion list. Neils51 (talk) 10:30, 12 February 2025 (UTC)
